Mapelastic Smart is a two-component mortar, based on cementitious binders, selected fine-grained aggregates, special additives and synthetic polymers in aqueous dispersion, according to a formula developed in MAPEI's research laboratories.

By mixing the two components, a mortar with a plastic consistency is obtained that is easily applied by brush, roller, or even by spraying with a spray gun, either on vertical surfaces or on horizontal supports, in a thickness of about 2 mm. Its high content of synthetic resins and its quality give Mapelastic Smart a high elasticity, which remains unchanged in all environmental conditions.

CARACTERISTICS

• Mapelastic Smart is totally impermeable to water, up to a positive pressure of 1.5 atmospheres, and to the penetration of aggressive substances present in the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and sulphuric acid, and soluble salts such as chlorides and sulphates present in sea water or soil

• Mapelastic Smart complies with the principles established by EN 1504-9 ("Products and systems for the repair and protection of concrete structures: definitions, requirements, quality control and conformity assessment. General principles for the use of products and systems") and with the minimum requirements established by EN 1504-2 coating (C) according to the PI, MC and IR principles ("Concrete surface protection systems")

AM IMPORTANT VIEWS

• Do not apply Mapelastic Smart at temperatures below +8° C.
• Do not add cement, aggregates or water to Mapelastic Smart.
• Protect from rain or accidental waterways, within 24 hours of application.
• When Mapelastic Smart is used as an uncoated waterproofing membrane on terraces or large roofs, it is advisable to provide steam vents, suitably positioned according to the humidity present in the substrate (indicatively every 20-25 m²). This precaution is essential when Mapelastic Smart is installed on particularly absorbent substrates that retain moisture, such as screeds lightened with polystyrene or expanded clay.

APPLICATION FIELDS

Mapelastic Smart is used for the protection of new concrete structures or those repaired with special mortars belonging to the Mapegrout or Planitop lines, of micro-cracked plasters and, in general, of cementitious surfaces which, because they are subject to vibrations, may crack, and for the waterproofing of balconies and terraces and of hydraulic works such as canals and walls of dams, swimming pools, tanks and cisterns.
