Mape-Antique MC is a premixed powder mortar for dehumidifying and macro-porous plasters, cement-free, composed of lime and Eco-Puzolana, natural sands, special additives and micro-fibers, with very low emission of volatile organic substances (EMICODE EC1 R Plus), according to a formula developed in MAPEI's research laboratories. Based on EN 998-1, the product is classified as R: "Mortar for renovation. Projected mortar for interior/exterior plastering used on damp masonry walls containing water-soluble salts", Category CS II.  Read more

Sprayed mortar for interior/exterior plastering used on damp masonry walls containing water-soluble salts," Category CS II.

CARACTERISTICS

  • Mape-Antique MC, after mixing with water, to be carried out in a concrete mixer, becomes a mortar for dehumidifying and macroporous plasters, resistant to salts, with a plastic-thixotropic consistency, easy to work with a trowel, both on vertical surfaces and on ceilings.
  • Mortars made with Mape-Antique MC have very similar characteristics, in terms of mechanical strength, elastic modulus and porosity, to those of mortars based on lime, lime and pozzolan or hydraulic lime, originally used in the construction of buildings.
  • However, with respect to these mortars, Mape-Antique MC has properties that give the product greater resistance to various chemical-physical aggressions such as, for example, the presence of soluble salts, freeze-thaw cycles, the washing action of rainwater, the alkali-acid reaction and the appearance of plastic shrinkage cracks.
  • Some typical values referring to the main characteristics, both in the fresh and hardened state, of Mape-Antique MC are given in the technical data table (in the Application Data and Final Performance sections).

AIMPORTABLE VIEWS

.

  • In the presence of capillary rising damp and soluble salts, apply Mape-Antique MC only after applying a layer, about 5 mm thick, of Mape-Antique Rinzaffo.
  • Mape-Antique MC must be applied in a thickness of not less than 20 mm.
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC as a mortar for pouring into formwork (use Mape-Antique LC, mixed with aggregates of suitable particle size)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC as a mortar for pouring into formwork (use Mape-Antique LC, mixed with aggregates of suitable particle size)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC as a consolidation grout to inject into structures (use Mape-Antique I or Mape-Antique F21)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC for "reinforced" plasters (use Mape-Antique Strutturale NHL)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC for "reinforced" plasters (use Mape-Antique Strutturale NHL)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique MC as a plastering mortar (use Mape-Antique FC Ultrafine, Mape-Antique FC Civile or Mape-Antique FC Grosso)
  • Do not use Mape-Antique FC Ultrafine, Mape-Antique FC Civile or Mape-Antique FC Grosso
  • Do not add additives, cement or other binders (lime or gypsum) to Mape-Antique MC.
  • Do not use paints or coloured coatings of low thickness that may noticeably modify the breathability and porosity of Mape-Antique MC and, therefore, hinder the evaporation of the moisture present in the wall. Use products from the Silexcolor or Silancolor lines, lime-based paints or water-repellent treatments such as Antipluviol S or Antipluviol W.
  • If the structures to be restored are affected by strong capillary rising damp or considerable concentrations of soluble salts, it is advisable to apply a horizontal chemical barrier (Mapestop type) before applying the dehumidifying plaster, in order to reduce the penetration of damp into the walls as much as possible.
  • Do not apply Mape-Antique MC at temperatures below +5 °C.

APPLICATION FIELDS

  • Sanitation of masonry walls degraded by the presence of capillary rising damp, in existing buildings, even with historical and artistic value.
  • Sanitation of walls degraded by the disintegrating action caused by saline concentrations.
  • Reconstruction of lime-based plasters, degraded by atmospheric agents and environmental conditions, as well as by the passage of time

Some examples of applications

  • Perforation of dehumidifying and macro-porous plasters, in interiors and/or exteriors, on existing masonry walls affected by capillary rising damp.
  • Performance of dehumidifying and macroporous plasters, in interiors and/or exteriors, on existing stone, brick, tuff and mixed masonry walls with presence of salt efflorescence.
  • Dehumidifying plasters on walls in areas with lagoons or near the sea.
  • Construction of new dehumidifying plasters or reconstruction of existing lime-based plasters on stone, brick, tuff and mixed masonry walls of buildings, including those listed as of historical and artistic value by the Administration.
  • Performance of interventions of "patching" or replacement of elements, in walls with gaps and/or discontinuities.
  • Filling of joints between stones, bricks and tuff elements, in "face brickwork"
